EARLY YEARS 2008-2013
Eyes Shaker was founded in 2008 by Cedrick M. on organ and Alex G. on drum.
Initially starting with a Fast swing-bebop jazz inclination, but driven by their shared passion for vintage rock ‘n’ roll and influenced by iconic bands like The Stooges and MC5, they initially embraced a raw, garage rock sound typically characterized by gritty guitars and driving rhythms.
The concept of substituting guitars with the organ and playing bass with the foot was a distinctive aspect of their early approach.
SECOND PERIOD "HEAVY SOUL" 2014-2017
After the departure of Alex, Marc L. joined the band. And Eyes Shaker entered a new phase characterized by a heavier, more soulful sound.
Drawing inspiration from classic soul, they incorporated elements of groove and melody into their music while retaining the raw intensity of their earlier work. This period saw the release of their sophomore album, “Paon Paon“.
TODAY TWO BROTHER ON STAGE
After a hiatus of several years, the band reformed into a familial version with the arrival of Laurent M. on drums, who happens to be the brother of the organist. Bringing with him a background as a jazz drummer and experience with Middle Eastern percussion.
They paved the way for exciting new sonic explorations, the band also revisited their roots, drawing inspiration from the rich musical tapestry of New Orleans. Influenced by artists like Dr. John, they incorporated elements of New Orleans funk and trance gospel praise breaks into their music, adding depth and richness to their constant evolving sound.
Today, two brothers grace the stage with a shining and jingling Drumkit
accompanied by a massive collection of vintage keyboards and amps, from Hammond Organ, Electric Piano Wurlitzer, and Moog.
The organ preaches Gospel, charms snakes, and tricks the wildest Boogies. The drummer whips up Soul and Rock’n’Roll grooves, soaring between the most intense Gospel trances.
A 70s psych kaleidoscope, with a contemporary touch from the new jazz generation. Rock ‘n’ Roll and groove are at the heart of this electrifying fusion.
